2010 CORA OFFSHORE SERIES CHALLENGE SPECIAL REGULATIONS WORKSHEET
It is the responsibility of the owner/person in charge to place a check mark in the box next to each of the following items affirmatively indicating compliance of their boat with the ISAF Category 3 Regulation, including US SAILING Prescription (as modified by Charleston Ocean Racing Association) corresponding to such item and applicable subparagraphs. Modified requirements are denoted by an “M” placed before the item with an explanation of the modification included on the second page of this' sheet. Check off the appropriate circle that your boat complies and provide this form completed before the July 2, 2010 Indigo Cup (Overnight Race to Georgetown).

Appendix “A” Acceptable Modifications to Category III
.
Bilge pumps and cockpit drains may be connected to a common drainage system provided the system has sufficient capacity to handle the maximum combined volume
Any gap in bow pulpit rails not meeting the requirements set forth in the ISAF regulations shall be closed by a taut lanyard of synthetic rope as provided in 3.14.6(c) without regard to the maximum dimension set forth therein. This modification to the ISAF regulations shall apply only to boats that were originally delivered from their builder with such non-conforming gap.
It is permissible, but not recommended, that the reserve navigation lights requirement may be met by providing portable battery powered navigation lights available at most marine supply outlets having sufficient luminosity for the conditions of the race and which must be maintained in good working order at all times.
All monohulls may use an outboard engine which shall meet the same requirements as boats using an inboard engine, except that permanently installed fuel systems and tank(s) are not required.
All boats (regardless of LOA) shall carry two anchors together with a suitable combination of chain and rope, all ready for immediate use.
For the 2006 CORA Offshore Challenge Series octahedral reflectors may have a minimum diameter of 8 in.
It is also required that all boats carry the current non-electronic editions of charts 11480, 11521, and 11513.
US SAILING prescription for a Lifesling® is optional. The lifebuoy requirements are unchanged.
Life Lines - uncoated lifelines are optional
Life rafts - a conventional life raft is optional
White hand flares are optional.
A boat may carry either a storm trysail or a mainsail reefing system to reduce the luff by at least 25%. A heavy weather jib/sail and the US SAILING prescription to have 10% mainsail reefing are optional.
The US SAILING prescription is amended to permit the use of U.S. Coast Guard approved Type II or Type III personal flotation devices (PFDs) having a minimum adult buoyancy of 22 Ibs. U.S. Coast Guard approved Type I PFDs and PFDs having a minimum adult buoyancy of 33 Ibs. are strongly recommended. The CORA Executive Committee recommends, but does not require compliance with the US SAILING prescription that all personnel on deck wear personal flotation while starting and finishing without exception, and at all times except when the Captain of the boat directs that it may be set aside. The CORA Executive Committee also recommends that a harness (with tether) and a Iifejacket with whistle and reflective material be worn: a) between the hours of sunset and sunrise, b) when alone on deck, c) when reefed, d) when true wind speed is 25 knots or above, or e) when visibility is less than one nautical mile.
