Many CORA courses involve taking R4 to starboard. Let's say that there is a north wind, and two boats in different fleets are approaching the mark on opposite tacks downwind to round (P and S, see picture below). They were overlapped when they entered the zone. Is the port-tack inside boat (P) entitled to room? Choose the best answer below.
Yes, because P's bow is slightly ahead of S's bow.
No. Rule 10 (Opposite Tacks) always takes precedence.
Yes. A downwind port-tack boat has right of way over a downwind starboard-tack boat.
No. Since boats are in different fleets, normal COLREGS rules apply.
Yes. Since boats were overlapped upon entering the zone.
