 Adams Cup Quarter Finals Minimize

Thanks to Treez Decker for these shots of the Adams Cup Quarter Finals held in Charleston SC.  Here you can see the two Charleston teams neck and neck!

Catch some of the action (written by Mary Pallazo...)

"Genny’s team dominated the event with 3 bullets.  1st race they led the whole way, finishing about 3 boat lengths ahead of us and ½ a leg in front of the Columbia team.  2nd race was a little tighter.  Genny led the race to shortly before the last upwind mark when we were able to lead them in.  We took a short lead after the mark but it didn’t take long for them squeeze by us.  They were able to break our plane by taking advantage of waves and we couldn’t get back to them after that.  We finished just a boat length behind then.  Columbia trailed again by several lengths.  By the last race things had turned around.  Columbia took an early lead and Genny’s team trailed.  We couldn’t seem to gain speed on Columbia but Genny was able to make gains to gain the lead by the last leeward rounding and maintain it to the upwind finish.  Overall finish was closer here with Columbia a couple lengths behind Genny and then us a couple behind.  All 3 teams are advancing to the semis where we expect 5 teams in CHS on July 5-6."

Back Row: Betsy Pilcher, Mary Pallazo, Kara McFadden, Amy Ironmonger and the Columbia team

Front Row: Genny Gervais, Katie Hughes, Jessica Koenig and Sarah Schaill

THIS COULD BE YOU!

Ladies, consider sailing the Adams Cup in 2009.

A fantastic chance to participate in a national championship!

Summer Series 1 Race #2 Minimize

The view from the dock  was a spectacular flora of colorful spinnakers heading to the finish in the second Wednesday night summer series race.  Leading the parade of colors was Dick McGilvrey's "Gone", all decked out in red stars on a white background with blue accents, a very impressive site to see.  Conditions were just right for the ride to the finish for competitors with spinnakers, we were delighted to see the show!

This is but a mere taste of the beauty to behold on a Wednesday night race you don't want to miss next time.               Priscilla Parker
